Dynamic Dialogue 4/29/16

Happy Friday Dynamic Team!

Upcoming Events:

DYNAMIC is to be CONTINUOUSLY PRODUCTIVE AND CONTINUOUSLY LEARNING!

Important Information:

As we get closer to the end of the year, please remind students to continue to do their best to be Ready, Respectful, and Responsible.

Permission slips have been sent home for our trip to the Art Museum on Friday, May 20th, and Sports Fusion on May 26th.  Library fines must be paid to attend the Sports Fusion field trip.

Please remind students of the following regarding dismissal at the end of the day:

1) students should leave for home, their ride, or a bus
at 3:15

2). On after school activity days: If students are participating, they must be in their activity room by
3:20 and should leave for home, their ride, or a bus at 4:00

3). Students are encouraged to walk to the Rec center if their transportation home is not on time and be picked up at the Rec.

We cannot have students unsupervised throughout the building in the late afternoons. It is a critical safety and security issue and student safety comes first.

On Mondays and Fridays students should be picked up by
3:35.

On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays students should be picked up by
4:10

Summer school enrollment can be completed here.

At least one teacher from Dynamic will be available for help on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays until 4:00.

English –
Students who did not finish their tests this week need to come in before school (I'm here by 7:30), during lunch, during Discovery or after school (Tuesday-Thursday).

We started reading The Outsiders today (I may or may not have dressed up for the occasion...) and will finish the year with this wonderful book! Students will spend the majority of their time reading the book, discussing it with collaborative groups and writing to think about their reading. They will be assessed on their ability to hold collegial, collaborative discussions.

Social Studies –

This week, we have been continuing our look at the Middle Ages in Europe.  Students played with some of the vocabulary pertinent to the era.  We also began to look at the rise of the middle class.  At the end of the week students began to look at the Magna Carta.    Students should read Chapters 4 and 5.  There are also two BrainPops that are due Tuesday.  The links to all are on my website.  We will continue with this next week.  We will also be looking at the bubonic plague and its effect on Europe.

Just an FYI – I will be out of town on May 5th and 6th

The notes for this unit are already up on my website, and I encourage students to begin looking at them right away.
