Our summative test for this unit is Monday! Students will be producing a personal narrative in our 45-minute class period. They should choose a topic over the weekend and do any planning necessary to be ready to write on Monday. They have learned a lot about what makes a great narrative, so they will have the chance to show all they have learned on Monday!

Students are finishing their realistic fiction pieces, which are also due on Monday, and I am so excited for our sharing party on Tuesday! We'll be having hot chocolate to celebrate. Students are welcome to bring a snack with them.

Math-
We started our week off with a cumulative review that included everything we've covered since the beginning of the year. If students are wanting to reassess on our latest test they need to come see me and make corrections and work with me before they can take the retest. Please do this as soon as possible. We are starting our new unit over geometry and will be starting our discussion by talking about circles.

Page goals are due on 11/23! Students' final performance event for our writing unit will also take place on Monday, November 23rd. If you and your family are headed out of town early, please email me to schedule an alternate testing time!

We are nearing the end of our realistic fiction unit! Next week, we will be looking at grounding our dialogue in scenes, getting rid of parts of our stories that don't do any heavy lifting, and participating in writing critique groups that help us make good changes to our stories.

Before Thanksgiving, on Tuesday, we will be celebrating our writing with a Sip 'N' Share day in class. I'll bring in hot chocolate and hot apple cider and some treats for us to munch on while students share their stories with each other. It will be a fun day!
