Dynamic Dialogue 5/13/16

Happy Friday the 13th Dynamic Team!

Upcoming Events:   May 20th – Art Museum Field Trip

DYNAMIC is to be CONTINUOUSLY PRODUCTIVE AND CONTINUOUSLY LEARNING!

Important Information:

Students should bring a sack lunch on Friday to eat after we return from the field trip.

Permission slips have been sent home for our trip to the Art Museum on Friday, May 20th, and Sports Fusion on May 26th.  Library fines must be paid to attend the Sports Fusion field trip.

As we get closer to the end of the year, please remind students to continue to do their best to be Ready, Respectful, and Responsible.

Please remind students of the following regarding dismissal at the end of the day:

1) students should leave for home, their ride, or a bus
at 3:15

3). Students are encouraged to walk to the Rec center if their transportation home is not on time and be picked up at the Rec.

We cannot have students unsupervised throughout the building in the late afternoons. It is a critical safety and security issue and student safety comes first.

On Mondays and Fridays students should be picked up by
3:35.

On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays students should be picked up by
4:10

Summer school enrollment can be completed here.

After school activities have ended.  Students should be picked by 3:35.  If they have made arrangements to stay with a specific teacher, students must also have arranged for transportation home.

English –
Students are finishing The Outsiders this week and reviewing for their test, which is on Tuesday, May 24th. If your student will miss that day, please have him/her arrange to test with me prior to Tuesday. I'm available before school starting at 7:30 and after school on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Students are encouraged to dress up like a greaser or a Soc for the test day--they can earn one free question if they do so!

We will also be watching the movie version of the book on Wednesday, May 25th. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know!

Math-
7th grade math is working on making their own games. There will be a blog post later in the week with pictures of the games. The students are working hard on them.
Algebra students are gearing up for finals and are either working on creating their own number systems or researching one that is different than ours.

Social Studies –

We have begun looking at the medieval African kingdoms of Ghana, Mali, and Songhai.  Students are researching each kingdom and completing a folder project about West Africa.  I have provided students with folders for this project and they are due on Tuesday.  Students also received their study guides for the last summative - which will be on May 24th.

Just a reminder – the Art Museum Field Trip will be this Friday, May 20th.

Missing work will be accepted until May 19th at 4:00 p.m.

The notes for this unit are already up on my website, and I encourage students to begin looking at them right away.
