Willow Weekly 1/8 to 1/12

Welcome to the Willow Weekly.  Here you will find all of your Team Willow news and information.  Please sign up for automatic updates and you will be notified whenever an update is made.

Important Information:

  • No school on Monday, January 15th.

ELA –
We've started a new unit--informational writing! In this unit, students will be writing to explain their thinking, theories and wonderings about a favorite book. Students will be rereading their chosen book over the next three weeks. They should be finished rereading the book by Friday, February 2nd.

This week, we spent some time refreshing our memories on what it means to write about their reading as a seventh grader. We're going beyond summarizing and trying to dig deep with our thinking by exploring characters, themes, symbolism and more.

Don't forget to stay updated with what's going on in ELA by visiting Ms. K's blog or follow Willow ELA's Instagram page.

Social Studies

This week we have continued looking at India and China. Students began a summative activity on both civilizations that is due on January 19th. The directions can be located in The Ancient World section of my website. Students will have every day through 1/19 to complete this project.

Science

This week in science we reviewed goal 1 and 2 in our structure and function of cells unit. We covered much of this information on cell theory, cell hierarchy, and organelle prior to winter break. We used this week as review due to absences and the long layoff over the holiday period. Friday students took a formative assessment over these topics

Next week students will be furthering their exploration of cells using microscopes to observe the differences in plant and animal cells.
