ELA –
Students have been working hard at capturing their deep thinking about their chosen books. I asked for 3 "jots" to be completed by today. Students will be choosing one and evaluating themselves on whether they included a "juicy" idea and several pieces of text evidence. That will be a grade in the gradebook.

Next week, I'll be asking for 4 new jots about their book. These jots will be turning into full-fledged chapters in a literary analysis book in the coming weeks.

Don't forget to stay updated with what's going on in ELA by visiting Ms. K's blog or follow Willow ELA's Instagram page.

Social Studies

Students continued to work on their summative India/China Folder which was due Friday. I have seen some very nice work this week and am very proud of the progress they have made.

Next we will begin a new unit - The Classical World. We will begin with the geography of Greece and vocabulary.

Science
This week students worked with microscopes to more closely observe the inner working of cells. They used microscopes at different powers of magnification to look at prepared slides and their own dry mount slides.

Next week students will prepare wet mount slides to observe their cheek cells and onion cells under the microscopes.
