DYNAMIC is to be CONTINUOUSLY PRODUCTIVE AND CONTINUOUSLY LEARNING!
Important Information:
Each year the Hixson staff and students try to help some of our families in need. We collect food to help sustain over breaks and adopt families to assist with clothing/winter needs. This year we have a goal of making 20 food baskets to help sustain families over the winter break. In addition, certain teams are adopting families in an effort to fulfil some holiday wishes. Beginning Monday, your child(ren) have the opportunity to donate funds toward the wishes of a Hixson family. If you have questions regarding this program, please feel free to contact the 7th grade counselor, Linda Peterson at 314-918-4554.
We still need about 20 more t-shirts ordered before we can submit the order to customink. If you have not yet ordered a t-shirt please click here to order or send money with your student to give to Ms. Coffman.
At least one teacher from Dynamic will be available for help on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays until 4:00.

Page Goals and Seeds for Reading Responses are due on Monday, November 9th!
Information on seeds can be found on Google Classroom under the 'About' section.
This week, we began our first drafts of our realistic fiction pieces! All of our rehearsal and planning has built up to this point, and students were anxious to get their ideas out. We will continue working on our pieces next week, with special emphasis on connecting with our characters by stepping into the drama and writing exciting leads for our stories.

Social Studies –
This Friday we concluded the first unit of study, Ancient Civilizations Pt. 1 (Pre-History, Mesopotamia, and Egypt). The Unit Test is a summative and so will have a larger impact on their grade. Students who did not finish during class time are welcome to come in after school on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday after school to complete their test. We will begin Pt. 2 with India on Monday. Our look at India will again focus on the river valley civilization, as well as the caste system. As usual, we will begin with geography.

The learning goals this week have been:
- I am able to develop and use models to describe the role of gravity.
- I am able to question and investigate to find answers using inquiry.
- I am able to clearly communicate using data tables and graphs.
- Cross-Cutting Concepts
- Systems and System models: Defining systems and system models are ways to understand ideas/concepts.
- Cause and Effect: Investigating and explaining causal relationships may predict and explain events.
- This week has been studying the concepts of gravity. Most of the week was utilized to do in depth data analysis and interpretation.
- Analyzed potential sources of errors.
- Analyzed and removed the outliers from our data, caused by faulty measurements.
- Analyzed and interpreted the means and ranges of data.
- Analyzed and corrected the GoogleSheet generated graphs. Yes there were mistakes in the scaling of the graphs as well as the titles.
- Interpreted all the data tables and graphs and wrote a complete lab report with conclusions.
- Friday the students took the QUIA formatives.
- How does the mass of the pumpkin affect the time it takes to fall?
- How does the density of the pumpkin affect the depth of the crater?
- How does the diameter of the pumpkin affect the diameter of the crater?
- Vocabulary: Axis, Eclipse, Ellipse, Gravity, Moon Phase, Orbit, Revolution, and Rotation.
