Each year the Hixson staff and students try to help some of our families in need. We collect food to help sustain over breaks and adopt families to assist with clothing/winter needs. This year we have a goal of making 20 food baskets to help sustain families over the winter break. In addition, certain teams are adopting families in an effort to fulfill some holiday wishes of a Hixson family. If you have questions regarding this program, please feel free to contact the 7th grade counselor Linda Peterson at 314–918-4554.

Our summative test for this unit is Monday! Students will be producing a personal narrative in our 45-minute class period. They should choose a topic over the weekend and do any planning necessary to be ready to write on Monday. They have learned a lot about what makes a great narrative, so they will have the chance to show all they have learned on Monday!
Students are finishing their realistic fiction pieces, which are also due on Monday, and I am so excited for our sharing party on Tuesday! We'll be having hot chocolate to celebrate. Students are welcome to bring a snack with them.

Math-
We started our week off with a cumulative review that included everything we've covered since the beginning of the year. If students are wanting to reassess on our latest test they need to come see me and make corrections and work with me before they can take the retest. Please do this as soon as possible. We are starting our new unit over geometry and will be starting our discussion by talking about circles.

Social Studies –
Students began their look at the culture of ancient India this week. On Thursday and Friday, students began to look and the origins of Hinduism and the caste system. This is a social structure that impacts India even today. Working in groups students have researched information and created large graphic organizers. On Monday, students will present their graphic organizers to their classmates and compare/contrast their choices.
