Science –

This week in Dynamic Science students have been working on the Cell Unit. They will have an assessment on Wednesday, 22 May. The learning goals and vocabulary are listed below. Several of the learning goals they came into this unit with most of the skills in place.
1.    I am able to describe how cells are the smallest unit of living organisms.
2.    I am able to describe each of the jobs of these organelles: cell membrane, cell wall, chloroplasts, chromosomes, cytoplasm, mitochondria, & nucleus.
3.    I am able to compare and contrast photosynthesis and cellular respiration.
4.    I am able to describe the levels of organization within complex organisms.
5.    I am able to recognize & identify organisms as unicellular or multicellular.

Social Studies –
Students have focused this week on the medieval West African kingdoms of Ghana, Mali, and Songhay.    The final day to turn in missing work will be May 17th.  The Middle Ages test will be May 21st.  Study guides were handed out on Wednesday and students have been given the entire class on Thursday and Friday to work on Geo Challenge – Africa, missing work and their study guides.  I will post the answers to the study guides on Edline and Edmodo on Sunday.  We will go over the study guides on Monday. All of the notes for the Middle Ages unit are on Edline and Edmodo.
